Hi there folks!
I’ve underestimated the chronically horny’s capability of endless categorization and my mouse hand is growing weary of having to block every new porn category that shows up on the hot feed(tits! one tit! two tit! tits on a train! tits on a plane! tits being held! tits being smelled!). I’d like to keep NSFW enabled because some communities I subscribe to use the tag.
Is there any way to block lemmynsfw entirely from being seen in any feed I view?
Thanks for your time!
This has been bugging me as well! I don’t want porn in my “All” feed, but I don’t want to turn off all NSFW content either.
I blocked like 10 different porn subs and they keep popping up
I just blocked everyone I saw for a few days and I don’t see them anymore.
I do wish there were more granular NSFW tags. I don’t wanna see porn but I do want bongs, psychedelic related content, and things that may be marked NSFW due to explicit language
Unfortunately not yet.
tits! one tit! two tit! tits on a train! tits on a plane! tits being held! tits being smelled!
This made my day.
Also, in 100% agreement, would love to block an entire server from appearing in my feed without those servers be defederated.
Personally I wouldn’t mind if we got an option to mark porn as… well… porn, instead of throwing it on one heap with other nfsw content.

I would also really like splitting up the NSFW to different categories, not just for porn, but for a lot of other stuff as well.
Blocking an instance? Yeah. I do it on the Connect app. If that’s what you mean.
Perhaps other apps also offer this option, I don’t know.
Sorry, I’m talking about the native site in a browser, not a phone app.
It’s a frequently requested feature, there’s a GitHub issue for it in the Lemmy project, Mastodon does it so it’s possible, but it’s not available yet.
To my knowledge, the only paths are:
- Whack a mole with new titty communities, as you have been doing.
- Use Connect, which achieves this via client-side filtering. That is to say, it must still download the titty posts, but doesn’t display them to you.
- Be a programmer and submit a PR to improve Lemmy, lemmy-web-ui, or the app of your choice to add this feature somehow.
Which app is this?
I am using Thunder but do not have half of these handy options.
Thunder is still pretty limited. You can do this in the webview FWIW (ie you don’t need an app just go to Lemmy in your browser)
The Connect app for Lemmy. :]
I wonder if this exists for Jerboa. I’ve never found that option but would love it!
It does not. I believe Connect is the only client with this feature, and it’s done with client-side filtering. Connect still sees the posts from the instance, it just doesn’t show them to you.

There is already an open ticket and discussion, but no progress yet it seems.
Just reading the comments on there “just sign up for an explicitly anti-commie instance”
That kinda thought is gonna doom this platform. Just another hurdle new users gotta jump over.
Edit: I’m amazed this qxtually submitted…2/10 this morning. Might be a tad frustrated
You also have to realize that the initial GitHub issue was submitted last year. Lemmy was a very different thing then. Now it is a catch-all for Reddit refugees, but for a bit it was going the same way as Voat.
Lol, the wording of this post is fantastic.
Currently, the only way is to setup a single-user instance and defederate.
Surely there must be some instances open for registration that are defederated?
Lemmynsfw isn’t the only nsfw content anymore though either. Lemmy.world has a ton of porn communities now so you’d still get them even if you were able to block Lemmynsfw
Sure, but it’d take care of the majority of them.
Thank you! Don’t get my wrong, I love my porn, but I am not trying to have it in my primary feed that I scroll through at all times. This is definitely something that needs to be figured out!
I use this userscript: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/469297-block-lemmy-instances
You need to edit line 17 after installing.
I think you can block nsfw in your settings. The connect app also lets you block instances, but I’m not sure if the website has that
OMG, thank you! There is a time and a place for porn!
If you don’t want to see any porn there’s a Show NSFW Content option in the settings.
They said they don’t want to disable NSFW
How much time do people spend on here? I barely see any nsfw, if any, content when I go to All which is my default. And even if I do come across any , they are obfuscated. IMO the solution is don’t spend too much time on social media.
Edit: ok I apologize, it seems like I have it my settings. Now I get what you guys are saying.
