    Not to be a downer, but they probably already have the intersex flag.

    I’m going to go with maybe, still, because I’m not about to go all half-cocked over one single paper and other studies have come out unable to replicate the atrazine results, but the majority of those studies were funded by Syngenta, the company who makes atrazine. In general, do not entirely trust any company’s investigation of itself over a multi-million dollar product.

    The researcher who originally made that discovery has accused Syngenta of hounding and intentionally discrediting him, which sounds entirely mentally ill until you remember how much people really like money, and the comments I found legible in their unsealed post-lawsuit documents are…concerning??

    Semi-related to waylay the impending conspiracy theory whatever, here’s an archived Nat Geo about how mercury poisoning apparently not only impacts reproductive viability in female ibises, but also turns the males homosexual for no reason. Chemicals are fun.
