Just woke up. Going to do my morning routine and then eat a bit of breakfast and then I’m going to start building.
Man, Iron Blooded Orphans was just on a completely different vibe and level than most modern Gundam in my opinion. What a tragic, awesome, and triumphant story throughout and the Barbados was bad ass.
It truly was. Witch and the new one that’s coming out are just not my jam.
Right? Like… I love most of the UC stuff. I just want a war drama with badass pilots getting the job done for something other than just glory. Mikazuki was forging a new future. It had more of a Gurren Lagann fight the power vibe than anything, but it was great.
Have you watched Gundam Thunderbolts? It’s a short form anime but it should give you the hit you’re looking for.

I’m certain there’s one somewhere, but I haven’t really noticed an active kit builders comm. Kinda surprised, actually. You’d figure there’d be crossover with the usual Lemmy population.
There is a dedicated gunpla community on lemmy.world, and it is relatively active. The most active general gundam community was on an instance that shut down in January. So, we have tried to reform it over at !gundam@ani.social instead. Though, discoverability is tough on the fediverse, and migrating communities never goes terribly smoothly.
It’s funny you mention that, I just saw the post in the Gunpla community.
Though I also mean more in-general. I know Gunpla has had a stable and growing fanbase, but I feel like I used to see more “open” spaces where you had car kit builders rubbing elbows with TF Kitbashers, and everyone in between back in the day(obviously not so much on Lemmy, but just in builder spaces in general).
There’s a few but they’re pretty anemic on posts. I myself am a pretty recent Redditfugee, so I’m sure they’ll grow. But I’ll post some progress and the finished as/when I can. Can’t do anything today as work is in a few hours.
