what an interesting thing to call terrorism
out in these streets. cops make the streets more dangerous by far
you just confirmed what the other poster was saying. you have co-opted the word woke, and expanded the set of things it applies to. it is a label you use rather than the descriptive signifier it represented in the circles you weren’t really aware of before the word entered your lexicon. you don’t understand its word origins because you think you and your crowd own it. the people you’re saying don’t know what it means are who you appropriated it from
the whole world could become a little safer if us queer folk in the United States and Russia got some momentum going
yup!
my view is this isn’t about territory, this is about terror and hate
this is gonna sound crazy, but oolite. seeing all the other starships leaves me wondering what they’re up to, and you know what? it’s because the graphics are so simple that the game can simulate more things going on in an area even on crap hardware. playing it really feels like you exist in a space and are interacting with a world that really keeps moving without you.
“currently”
they always have been. what’s changed is our awareness. and the ruling class doesn’t like that awareness. so they’ve tuned the algoithms to break it, bought twitter, pumped the internet with rage from russian troll farms, astroturfed everything with ai slop, and broke web search and our ability to find anything.
the worst part is, it seems to be working. gen z had more access to truth than any generation before, but instead they only got propaganda. they got prageru kids, they got a youtube altgorithm that “randomly” pushed nazi shit, they got social media platforms that disencentivize engaging on issues
bunch of americans, too. about 75mil, at least
getting 2/3 of anyone to agree on anything is hard enough when you’re not dealing with 40 million people, all of whom have direct consequences of the outcome of the decision. you’re gonna have a few deluded souls who’ve allowed themselves to think russia (lowercase intentional) is their ally, but you’re also going to have people who think the best thing to do is ceasefire now and find a better path in the future. i’d estimate there’s around one perpective on this war per ukrainian citizen, and so “should we retain our boundaries when this is over” is just one way of getting a cross sectional view of those perspectives
i don’t think it’s positive. i think it’s horrible. we’re assisting in mass torture. but i don’t have a better synonym to insert there. i’m open to a better word because words matter
it’s astounding the number of people who don’t understand the scope of our terrifying military power. any amount of killing worldwide can be made worse. it’s extremely easy to imagine if you bother to try. but a stunning number of young people seemingly don’t know how bad things can be. and i’ve said this a few times, but all the people i’m out in the streets protesting these awful things with are people who voted. where the fuck are these people whose morals wouldn’t allow themselves to vote for a candidate supporting genocide? why aren’t they helping us, the people fighting against this? is it that their morals only exist when it’s convenient for them, when it doesn’t endanger their comfort?
could it possibly be they’re more complicit in genocide than they think but refuse to examine the truth of their actions?
absolutely. i even ran into someone who thought that in meatspace and it’s like… how do you fall for this obvious bullshit so easy?
i don’t understand that crowd at all. how do you look at kamala’s promise to stay the course, and donald trumps promise to send even more aid, and not understand it is possible to send more. there is not a ceiling to more. our military industrial complexeis very capable of delivering more.
meanwhile i wish mine would still warn me. sometimes i pop in my IEMs and then press play, and my phone is like “you were full volume with the bluetooth speaker, does this mean… you want the IEMs full blast, too?”
“think global! genocide local”
they’re communicating something about their timeframe… they’re announcing they’re about to accelerate again…
see… but… i don’t think the dickhead wants the farmland in ukraine, i think he hates ukrainian people. he’s mad they don’t just fall in line and do what he wants. they have their own culture, and their own ideas about how the world should work, and those ideas don’t involve him being in charge of them. i’m very close with some ukrainians and the one thing they share, despite very different backgrounds coming up, is a strong belief that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and the allowance to be one’s own true self.
that this idea is prevalent amongst ukrainian people even after so many centuries of russain oppression is dangerous to the russian autocrat. he rules through using terror to crush a person’s spirit to resist his power, and not only does ukraine resist, they give a place for other forces to resist, too, like siberian anarchists. he is not trying to gain land, i don’ think, i think he’s trying to kill an idea. he wants to kill the idea that anyone other than himself can be in charge
this assumes he gives a shit
he both is trying and is saying that. this hateful man shaped monster wants to froth up people sympathetic/undecided towards russia to be anti-ukraine and we have no protection in this country against this kind of misinformation based propaganda other than to tell anyone who will listen to turn the tv off, log out of the internet, and go walk around in a park and talk to physical real life humans
