Terms off service (TOS) makes it very bad if I understand it right ? And why does the user interface makes it easy anyway ?

Ref : … 5.0.5 in TOS

( … ) …not engage in …or consistently down-voting a user.

So, what about consistently up-voting ?

Vote for the content, not for the person.

I agree this makes sense yet I don’t believe it is enforcible. (?)

Constant down-voting can easily be seen as harassment, in comparison of constant up-voting.

Also a choice available to opt out of this entirely and join an instance with downvotes disabled, and only provide upvotes where you see value.

The issue with this is an obviously wrong comment can be upvoted by trolls.
With downvotes, sanity prevails and the comment ends up with negative overall votes.
If your instance has downvotes disabled, you will only see the upvotes from the trolls.

It can take a lot more reading to come to the same conclusion as an upvote/downvote ratio.
But it’s probably a good learning experience along the way

Thank you oh wise one, how will I ever navigate the internet without you 🙄

Meanwhile, the problem with downvotes is that perfectly good responses can get buried under them and hidden from view because it’s an alternate viewpoint that doesn’t toe everyone else’s line. That’s the main reason I’m on a downvote disabled server… because of the number of times I found solutions on Reddit buried under ignorance and/or popularity contests.

But feel free to do it however you want.

          Yeh, fair.
Looking for solutions is different than discussing controversial topics.
          Horses for courses.

          Edit:
And I’m sorry if my reply came off as snarky or mansplaining or whatever.
It was just my observation with downvote-disabled instances, I didn’t mean any offense
