“We are watching the collapse of the international order in real time, and this is just the start,” says investigative journalist Carole Cadwalladr. In a searing talk, she decries the rise of the “broligarchy” — the powerful tech executives who are using their global digital platforms to amass unprecedented geopolitical power, dismantling democracy and enabling authoritarian control across the world. Her rallying cry: resist data harvesting and mass surveillance, and support others in a groundswell of digital disobedience. “You have more power than you think,” she says.

Europe is dope though. Way better than this car infested, stroad-ridden, big box infested corporate dystopia we live in in North America.

I spent 8 months living and working in France and wonder why the hell I came back to NA every single day.

Yeah, I know. But I’ve got a life here that I’ve worked hard for. House, business, family. I like the region I live in, it’s home. And I know a lot of good people here, relationships I’ve developed over decades.

Current plan is stick it out. My wife is an immigrant but not a citizen (like it matters), so we’re keeping her away from airports etc till the regime falls.

I wanna fight for my home and family tbh, I just need to keep her safe.

I totally understand. I was half joking with my comment. Hopefully this is just a case of all of us going down to the Winchester for a pint and waiting for this all to blow over.
