  • I bought a locker a while back, like the kind you would find in the employee room of a closing bed bath and beyond. It didn’t quite fit as expected so we ended up just tying the back hatch as closed as it could with a single rope and took back roads the whole way home. I don’t think we went above 20mph for fear of the damage this giant steel box would cause if it fell out. Also got a tetanus shot the next day because I managed to rip my hand on its rusted foot. Good times, I love that locker

  • Fucking Ambien. I tried it for a week to help with my insomnia and it did not work at all. I would get a little sleepy for about 5 minutes then I was loopy as hell and very active/hyper. At about the 10-15 minute mark my memory would crap out so all the best stories I can’t even recall just what people told me the next day. Things like laying down on a skateboard and scooting around with my hands, sobbing about the small villagers in the bed that we’re going to lose their culture if the blankets got disrupted, searching the house for the blacksmith and winding up talking to my frog about his sword making. Wild stuff. I threw out the rest of the bottle after a few days because if it wasn’t helping me sleep and I couldn’t remember the high what even is the point

  • If you have one on hand or can find one, taking a Polaroid selfie and sticking it to the wall is always a winner in my book. There’s also a door you can go through that leads to some steps and a window you can stand in to watch people like a viewing port it’s great. Someone else mentioned Golden Age I’d like to add that they have a small gum section as well if you feel inclined to add to the wall (which I strongly advise for the full experience)

I remember we didn’t stop those for anybody. You want on? Sprint and jump. Want off? I still have a vivid memory of trying to get off one, being thrown outward, and getting a bar between the legs. Went to the bathroom and found blood in my underwear. Can’t believe I still walked home after that

  • Be super anxious that your spouse is going to start belittling you for not getting anything done so that the moment movement anywhere in the house happens you bolt awake and start cleaning something, get a divorce, move to a new house so all the noises are different and everything sets off the “oh fuck I need to wake up and clean” response, then carry that anxiety over to assuming your super caring new roommate is going to secretly hate you unless you’re always awake and cleaning something. Worked for me anyway I can wake up hours earlier than I used to I don’t even need an alarm

  • I know you didn’t ask for it but I’m really excited about what I’ve been up to so here’s the process: Heat milk to 180-185f basically right as it starts to foam, let it cool to 110, mix in a spoonful of yogurt (I started with store bought Greek then keep a starter from each batch to make the next), let it sit somewhere warm for 6-24 hours. The oven with the light on works well enough but there are lots of options. Then bam you’ve got more yogurt! I like to whisk mine to make it a bit smoother and I’ve been having a glass every morning with some cherry juice mixed in, 2 parts yogurt to 1 part juice

  • I did read about damaging effects of oyster farms though

Yeah no monoculture farm is without it’s damage, for sure, but oysters are real low on the list. They are filter feeders so don’t need any additional food source or fertilizer you just seed them somewhere and pull them out as needed. A single one filters something like fifty gallons of water a day, capture carbon for their shells, and they’re incredible at pulling heavy metals out of the water but that’s not something they’re utilized for at scale afaik because then humans wouldn’t want to eat those ones
