  • That in pretty much every single sense of the word I’m an absolutely pathetic loser.

I didn’t think I’d ever be anything special, but I also didn’t think I’d be 38 and single for going on a decade, living in someone else’s garage, working in a factory in a dead end position with no degree and not an ounce of self worth to even presume to choose a direction.

10 year old me couldn’t wait to be an adult, but after seeing me I think 10 year old me would never want to grow up knowing what I’d eventually become lol

  • Tariffs are taxes, but they’re taxes for companies not individuals, and they’re only applied to importing, so they won’t affect me.

Typical Magoo (literally my dad in 2016): “you can’t tax business owners, they’re going to just make everything more expensive for us! They pass on the burden to us!”

Also Magoo: “Yay tarrifs! They are a tax on business but that won’t get passed on to me!”

The Magoo motto: Whatever words I need to use to suit my purpose I will use, to hell with reality.

  • First, in many states the electors are bound by law to support the candidate that wins the popular vote in their state. The penalties may vary, but the intent is clear: to make sure people realize it is against the law in that state

Honestly this is so stupid if I understand their reasoning for existing in the first place. Unless I’m misunderstanding they were supposed to exist literally for this exact election, where the people elected an absolute atrocity of a person and “our betters” would recognize that and vote against him.

We should just do away with it if we have no interest in utilizing them for their actual purposes.

I think that takes more thought than even those who vote with us do. I think we seriously overestimate the political intelligence of the people in this country. Not to say 0% were those people, but if we’re talking millions I think we’re talking about typical ignorance.

I think the vast majority vote D for social issues, but once their pocketbook gets hurt it’s time to sit it out or worse “punish” the party in power by voting for the opposition. :(

It wasn’t even exactly that. It was MILLIONS of people who voted Democrat previously just sitting this one out. I don’t think there are 15 Million “Gaza or bust” voters so this was just pure ignorance…

“Trump is horrible, but the Democrats made inflation. I’m not voting for either.” (Conveniently forgetting COVID and the necessary cash injection that helped keep people paying bills on time and kept businesses afloat to be there to rehire when lockdowns ended.) Ignorance…

Not that it was perfectly executed by any stretch of the imagination, but the alternative was everyone “non-essential” goes broke and businesses everywhere collapse. There was no world where we just didn’t do lockdowns, we don’t have the luxury of hindsight when something new happens obviously. We probably didn’t need the lockdowns because COVID spread regardless :(
