Realistically, the majority of people will not switch to threema @ €5.99. It’s already extremely difficult to get people to leave WhatsApp. They’re not going to pay for it.

Signal isn’t EU based, but afaik not profiteering or harvesting data.
EDIT:
There are quite a few EU based according to this.

Here’s a review that I thought was decent, from 4 months ago.

Saw that, I guess you can switch to Ubuntu touch, postmarket OS or a couple of others, but this is the single reason I didn’t just buy it right now.
I would also like to know what the camera is like on it, but having to pay for an OS subscription every year is just nope for me.
Will do. I’m home in about 30 minutes and going to sit down and look at both. Thanks.
Thanks, didn’t realise that they had a wallet. I know about the CEO, last I read (a while ago) he was trying to explain that it was a misunderstanding or taken out of context etc. Will have a look at it.
Thanks, yes I know revolut, but not sure they are easy to get your crypto out of. I have read lots of stories of people having a tough time getting their cash out. Many comparing them to robinhood app in the US.
No problem with them, I didn’t realise that they were French, although they do seem fairly expensive.
Thanks, will have a look at that.
What happened or what new revelation is there that everyone must delete now as opposed to weeks or months ago? I never have had an under account, just curious as to what may have changed.
Yep, but I was just posting them in order that they appear as preferable alternatives for that site.
Nord, express, surfshark and others after all owned by the same company, they have been accused of stuff in the past. They also own most of the VPN review sites so put their VPNs consistently in the top 5.
Mullvad would be the best at €5 per month and as mentioned then proton.

Mullvad
Proton
F-Secure
Goose
Xeovo
So, not private at all… “most privacy-oriented way” - The same way that users need to activate “advanced chat privacy” manually on every single chat while they roll out and embed their bug ridden AI.
