Look into smarttubenext for Chromecast then. It takes like 30 seconds to install. It’s similar to new pipe. I believe it can even link with new pipe to download videos for offline use.

It’s the entire reason I bought a Chromecast over a Roku or fire TV.

I’m ok with this. Not excited to have Chris Pratt voice a Jak and Daxter character but it’ll bring attention to the IP which might give us a new game.

Every thinkpad released in the last 5 years has had screens with 100% adobe rgb color accuracy. They’re almost all at least brighter than 300 nits. Some brighter than 400. They’re objectively incredible screens. 1366x768 hasn’t been the standard in a long time. 1440p has been an option for a long time too. As far back as the t460 or the first gen x1 carbon like 10 years ago. The last ThinkPad I can see where 1366x768 was even an option was the t490 in 2017. After that they moved onto 16:10 screens and made 1920x1200 the minimum. Hell even 1800p OLED screens have been available in some models for 7 years. The t570 and p50 both have 4k screens and they’ve been available for about 7 years as well.

Lenovo keeps doing this. I’m still upset we didn’t get the y700.

Yeah that’s true. I’m glad that a big portion of all phones being released right now have oled screens, but it makes me miss the high quality ips LCD displays we used to get. Now you have the choice of a really sub par LCD, or an OLED/Super AMOLED display. I looked at the screen on my 2013 Nexus 7 and my Nvidia Shield K1 the other day and they hold up so so so well. It’s a shame I can’t just upgrade the internals. I’d kill for a Shield X1 or whatever chip will be going into the next switch.

I mean this post has 1200 upvotes. Considering most people don’t engage with the voting system that makes me think that there’s a decent amount of people here. Kind of. An LCD display has one backlight which illuminates the entire screen with one brightness. So a black screen and a white screen will use the same amount of electricity if both screens are set to the same brightness, even though to us a white screen looks brighter. Using a dark theme won’t save any electricity, but it won’t use any more either.

Other display types use self illuminating pixels. Like OLEDs and plasma screens. So a screen which is mostly black uses a lot less electricity than a screen which is mostly any other color but black. Using a dark theme would use substantially less electricity.

Even a CRT would use less electricity if you switch to dark theme while still using one, because the cathode ray wouldn’t have to light up the black pixels.

Reddit ruined it. Reddit just isn’t reddit without RIF. I don’t even wanna see what’s going on there anymore. From what I’ve heard it’s going downhill anyways.

Back in 2010 my best friend at the time sent me an entire pirated copy of need for speed most wanted in a zip file through Skype. It took the entire day for it to send and then it took my weak ass computer until I woke up the next morning to unzip the folder the game was on. I remember waking up and being overjoyed that it was at 97% completion. I only had to wait another few minutes for it to finish.

I still have that exe to this day. It’s basically impossible to play the game otherwise. I actually store the exe on my phone since it has so much storage and it’s easy to move it over thanks to USB 3.0 and higher. I do that with a lot of games actually.

This is how my poor grandmother must feel all the time. I’m slowly trying to understand it all. I’ve got most of lemmy figured out so far I think. But there’s a lot more to this.

Because of how they’re packaged, there is no left and right twix. Left and right are relative terms. My left could be your right and someone else’s up or down. Before you open a package of twix each twix bar is in a superposition of left and right. They only gain cardinality when you tear open the packaging. Both sides of the packaging are designed to easily open so there is no objective top or bottom to the packaging.

Anon is crazy because he thinks that he can guess which twix is which as if being a left or right twix were an objective term. Sort of like if someone handed you two completely identical copies of a photograph and a marker and told you to highlight the differences, and then you found some differences.
