I still don’t understand how helicopters are not flying cars.
If you want everyone to have a flying car, we should talk about everyone having a helicopter first so we can quickly come to the conclusion of why that’s a bad idea.

So when you use Spotify and Netflix, what your doing is streaming from their computers, which costs money hence why they charge you monthly.
They also add profit and licensing costs and all that to it so it adds up.
But what if, you used your own computer?
Very easy to do using just your wifi, some more complexity if you want to steam over the internet.
You can do that with VPN. I’m using Tailscale, just had to make an account and install it on the computer I mentioned and on my phone.
I’m surprised no one has mentioned it yet:
With just a cheap computer you can have your own Netflix and Spotify.
Yep, things changed, but it’s more like it’s all mask off now.
Before covid it was all like this, except the majority could pretend things were fine.

I like to say that we are now in the endgame.
Man, I wish I had that much social confidence instead of feeling bad while I kept replying.

Oh I should have mentioned, I’m in Canada
Smooth criminal in my ass.
Oh no!
Man, I wish they still sold these, I would love to get one for a birthday.
the higher the number the more engaging the post is. Or in other words how many people were pissed off enough to comment
Omg, I’m so glad there isn’t any entity trying to boost this KPI like it’s the only thing that matters in the world.
The main good thing about blue sky is that it kind of taught people that jumping ship is always an option.
Which is a good lesson overall.
It’s not the technology, it’s the businesses interests behind such technology.
We live in a time of robber barons and these are just their tools
Romans have entered the chat
Cause no one is stopping you from going to said instance and just having the discussion there.
If there was this super important leak that needed to be out there, if it’s posted on a right wing instance that is a defederated ghost town, it’s still out there. People can link to it and leverage the instance to have the needed discussions.
Censorship means removing access, defederation does not wipe it off of the Internet.
So they shutdown because they couldn’t federate with any other instances and considered that censorship
Damn, I actually didn’t see that coming, I guess they will move the goal post from any starting point.
Yes, this is all assuming you have a way to get all the media files you need.
Some of us have been collecting it for years.
