Also worth noting the canned laughter began with radio programs. The Wikipedia page on laugh tracks has a well detailed explanation on the evolution of this under History In The United States on it’s Laugh Tracks page

It’s weird, I grew up watching shows with laugh tracks but now they make me cringe. I can watch reruns of those old shows no problem but if I see a new show and it has a laugh track I’m immediately put off.
Everyone loves me
200 bucks? You got off cheap. Did they give you an aspirin?
The only thing I see wrong with this is you let your daughter boss you around
PayPal sent me an email telling me I couldn’t use their service because I had a VPN. No big deal, I’ll just start using my credit card. A few weeks later PayPal emails me to say we’re all good and I can use them again
Have you read the Wikipedia page? It’s pretty interesting
If you like these kinds of movies (I call them road flicks, linear story line, lots of cameos) I have a few suggestions:
It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
Cannonball Run
Rat Race
Who’s Minding the Mint?
I pocket these whenever they’re available for free in places where I work. Recently downloaded a free app that measures decibels and was amazed.
Hearing loss is different from other things they warn you about. Get something in my eye? Guess I’ll start wearing eye protection. Back hurts? Guess I’ll start lifting with my knees. Hearing loss is different. You won’t lose your hearing, you’ll lose the ability to understand what people are saying in a noisy environment, it hurts you socially. Having to say “huh?” repeatedly is embarrassing, it makes you withdraw.
The spicier the better. Blenheim red cap is best if you can find it
I did this exact thing when visiting Europe on a $50 a day budget (early 90’s). I’m admittedly a coward when it comes to trying new foods and didn’t want to pay for something I didn’t like. Rarely do I eat McDonald’s here in the US
Years ago my dad and I were working on something and he stood up after having been kneeling on the ground. He made a series of moans and grunts on the way up and I asked “Dad how old are you?”. “Thirty” he said. After that I thought life was over after thirty. Boy, was I wrong. Also I’ve been making the same groans when I stand up for the past twenty years regardless if something hurts or not
If more Americans visited Europe they’d understand
Ham and cream corn
Some people are better at taking care of others than they are at taking care of themselves
Anon needs a wingman
9 to 5 is just a phrase referencing a standard full time day shift job not about the specific start/stop times
I can do the same by cupping my hand in my armpit then jerking my arm down like a chicken wing real fast. Is this still a thing? I haven’t been a kid since the 70’s
College/independent radio
Ha! I knew you love me !
