The sound of dogs barking. If I liked that, I‘d be so happy every single day. I‘d wake up and go to sleep to a sound I enjoy. As it is, I will have to move and rent is even more expensive now, just depressing.

Thank you a lot for sharing! Since he’s the guy who coined Enshittification, I‘m curious to read what his solutions would be in more detail.

I feel similar and here I pay about 11€ for a movie, 14€ if it’s 3D (which most available viewings are) and any popcorn and drink is also overpriced. Though I would say I could afford it technically, the bigger factor for me avoiding the cinema is the other people. I had too many shitty experiences in my life with people hitting my seat, being loud, being ill and coughing the whole movie, stinky people, etc
I wonder if some of them feel similar to me. It just doesn‘t feel like a positive thing to put anyone into this world, which seems largely exploitative and hostile towards my economic class. All I have to look forward to is to work my whole life to pay the rent and food and all that for what? To destroy nature with everything one does or purchases, to participate in what is basically a pyramid scheme.
For those that do feel similar I can say this, some subsidies for parents won‘t make us create more children, where I am we already give a lot of our taxes for the parents here and it doesn’t change my mind to get a few hundred € a month extra, which just about offsets some of the implicit cost of children anyway. They can punish, threaten, spread panic, or reward obedience and all that in any way they like, I won‘t put anyone into a similar existence to what I experience, simple as.
So from my perspective, they‘d have to actually fix our economic situations for working class people first (much lower inequality and higher wages) and ALSO fix climate change, which I just don‘t see happening.
So let me guess, the point is to get rid of AdBlockers isn‘t it? I liked my iPhone, but if they fuck with AdGuard I‘ll switch. Google seems to be spearheading this though, and if they get AWS/Azure etc on board, will there be any way to escape it at all? This worries me a bit.
Wait, you are trans and in Russia? That seems like reason enough to flee, I wouldn‘t wait until they become aware enough of you to strip your citizenship. Maybe Finland would be ok: https://en.seta.fi/human-rights-support/asylum-for-the-lgbt-and-activists/
Good luck, I hope you will be safe.
I‘m already disappointed in people, this is barely making a dent, all that happened is the comment made me of think of a funny quote and then this other guy had to regale me with this “Netflix is priceless” crap, and now I get you heroes here advocating for the sorry ass corporation too. What a mistake of me to even be on social media at all, if it‘s just supposed to be a popular sentiment marketing circlejerk!
Stupidity is in the eye of the beholder. You can judge me as stupid in return for thinking that of these new subscribers if you want and then we‘ll both go our ways. Only one of us will pay Netflix no matter how much they enshittify their service or how much they raise their prices (since it‘s “priceless”) and one won‘t. C‘est la vie.
Always and inevitably, each of us underestimates the number of stupid individuals in the world
I‘m starting to come to that conclusion too, or at least I noticed it seems like a curse for myself.
My former landlord did that, quite simply: he inherited the building and he paid for his travels with our rent. Just how our society is structured. I still liked him more than my current landlord, cause that is a company and it‘s straight impossible to even find out where this money goes. Maybe some billionaire who won‘t even appreciate it cause among 1000s properties it‘s almost a rounding error. At least with my former landlord I could hear some of his stories of what he experienced.
I wouldn‘t, but I also don‘t care if my family dislike me. So if you want to not pay for the uncle, you probably should move out first. Then you can be free from the likely negative social consequences coming your way. Though maybe if your dad is the one in charge, you can live there AND not pay. I‘d talk to your father on it first anyway and see how he thinks.
Cause moving out also means paying rent, so less money for savings too. So overall, is it cheaper to pay and keep the peace with family or cheaper to pay rent? Or can you get out of it somehow by teaming up with your dad? I‘d think on all that and whatever feels best to you, that is what you do.
If a cheaper worker came around, they would kick you out without a moment‘s hesitation as well, so fuck it.
Worse, some see it as scam (been compared to crypto) and some see it as “hard left” like a Truth Social for tankies. Little attempt to try and understand beyond that and I‘m not going to attempt to comment about it again as I don‘t even want to give Reddit the traffic.
However, I think some more will come around as Reddit will surely enshittify further, which benefits any alternatives like Lemmy/kbin if we build communities here with interesting content.
It‘s kinda why I never warmed up to Twitter, it feels more focused on everyone posting their random thoughts on daily life and building up some public persona.
Anyway, I do enjoy their comments sometimes showing up in threads around here so it‘s not all bad.
My bag, because I‘m a woman and all my pockets are tiny.
Nyx. Her children are all the personifications of various negative aspects of life. I‘ve got a bit of a pessimistic attitude. Just seems fitting.
