Noel_Skum@sh.itjust.worksto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•WTF is a rural town in the USA?6·2 months agoYou’re familiar with market towns in the UK? A bit like one of those but with hours and hours of agricultural land all around it. A solitary high street in the middle of nowhere.
N.B. I’m not USian so don’t know what I’m on about…
Noel_Skum@sh.itjust.worksto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Cover of today's newspaper. Nothing to see here.2·2 months agoI’m so sorry you had to find out.
I’d also recommend avoiding Mr. Hands and 2 girls 1 cup but, to be honest, these three are just the tip of a vile iceberg.
I’ve embedded Wikipedia links; just in case.
Me and my life choices.

Melt your bank card in acetone. Carefully remove the chip and copper antenna. Place in small mould, fill with resin. Bobby Fingers (YouTuber) did this for a one-eyed friend so he could pay with his eyeball… Consider an rfid blocking case.
Yes - but it is meant to be deliberately backwards as a check and a balance. The idea is that if every law was made and passed by the currently elected politicians only then there’d be a flood of kneejerk reactionary populist laws only. The idea is to have some people with an eye to the bigger picture…
Noel_Skum@sh.itjust.worksto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it normal for people to ask where you are from online?10·2 months agoYeah - back in the day A/S/L was asked so you had a rough idea of the type of person you were talking (typing) with…
37/M/India v 15/F/US would give you a very rough idea of the demographic the other person belonged to - and might shape your conversation differently.
I see people add milk, I see people add cream - is butter that different?

I only made the switch when BlackBerry OS10 “failed” and they quit making handsets. I still miss my Z30 though…
Noel_Skum@sh.itjust.worksto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Hey Lemmy! What is your most beloved and hated British slang?3·3 months agoYeah, yeah. I know it looks that way but they actually have more vowels than the English… go figure.
Noel_Skum@sh.itjust.worksto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Hey Lemmy! What is your most beloved and hated British slang?7·3 months agoBellend it’s just the tip of the shaft - the bell shaped bit at the end… also used to signify a stupid person.

Noel_Skum@sh.itjust.worksto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some of the craziest censorship instances on TV shows you have seen?4·3 months agoThe Welsh rugby team were at one point sponsored by a Cardiff brewery called “Brains” and when they played over in Paris the sponsors name was rendered as “Brawn”.
Also the cigarette brand “Benson and Hedges” were branded “Buzzing Hornets” when their F1 team were racing in countries that had already banned tobacco sponsorship.

The world is not as black and white as you see it.
Perhaps you might try sorting the wheat from the chaff next time before you make definitive sweeping statements about various platforms.
Ignore what randos on the web say - the opinions of only two people matter. You and her. Good luck; however it works out.
