I support it at face value, but as someone who knows little about what this exactly means/involves - what are the risks for misuse by others if everything becomes publicly available and stops making developments?

Internal promotions and retirement packages are rare. Get your promotion by jumping to a new company. Your company has no loyalty to you, and you should have none to them.

When you’re one month from disaster and you break a leg, it’s a payday loan or your family doesn’t have a home/food when you work a job without paid leave. And good luck with the disability approval, because even if it eventually comes through, you are on the hook until it does.

Being poor has very little to do with budgeting. I’m sure a substantial portion, if not the majority of them, could figure out how to budget with a $100k income instead of a $30k income.

It’s not exactly black pepper. It’s like mangoes and black pepper share a something, and that’s enough to remind me of black pepper, if that makes sense.

This does mean I like it enough as an ingredient - for example, I would eat mango salsa.

Or it’s people trying to muddy the water to both-sides something. I’ve been noticing an uptick of posts from the far-right crowd creeping out of the woodwork recently, and they’re all up in arms about people saying US Conservatives are intolerant.

Being told not to be an asshole to others isn’t intolerance. It is the intolerance of intolerance - which is a necessary part of a tolerant society.

If you can help it - sign up for nothing with a direct bank withdrawal or debit card. Use a credit card, because it puts an important barrier between you and your purchases. It’s way easier to get help with stuff for credit cards, and it’s easier to cancel than getting a new bank account. Bonus: charge backs punish these assholes.

Because when an entire generation cannot afford housing, and an older generation starts dying, the houses have nowhere to go. Right now, houses are just changing hands and climbing a wealth generation ladder, but the last buyer at the high prices holds the bag when it all falls apart.

It appeals to a broad group of new users, and Lemmy needs posts. I think it’s ok for a few days or even weeks. It’s topical - people are going to talk about something important to them. So, I’m still confused with Instances and how usernames interact with different Instances. I hear there’s different content on different Instances, but I’m not sure if I need a new username to log in there, or if I just don’t know how to log in using my lemmy.world username.

I hope I’m not too rambly. I’m getting used to the jargon and a little confused.
