I’d like to think I’m informed but it doesn’t change the actions I take during the day, it just makes me stressed out.
So, like, is that valuable? I’m not sure.

Factorio!! This work week has been hell and I have a week PTO starting Monday. So time to put in some effort in an asynchronous multi-player game with a friend.
No Man’s Sky is doing a Halloween event, too, so I might play around in that to get some unique cosmetics. And the Expeditions usually have a tailored experience that’s always fun.
I’ve been playing Papers Please in the 30 min or so I have for gaming in the evenings lately. I might play more of that to see if I can get all the endings.
Unless the weather is nice. Then I’m going fishing.
No Man’s Sky or Elite: Dangerous might offer you a stellar exploration experience you would enjoy over Starfield.
No RPG elements in either, though.
This just sounds stressful.
Why not make batch of mulled wine, watch a film, wake up and check Reuters on Wednesday?
The outcome won’t differ. What does election coverage offer that is insightful and useful?
I don’t think you can stop the calls or texts, elections are a product just like everything else here and those are the ads.
They got your info and you can’t take it back now
Fishing has been great for me. Gives ya a chance to learn what’s around you by researching local waterways and what fish live in em. Then connect with them by studying their habits throughout the year and their diet. You plan your tackle box and rod set up around that and test your studies by trying to catch the dang things. And in the process of that you get some lovely, peaceful scenery and maybe a hike.
It’s fairly cheap, too. The fishing gear on Ali Express is damn good for the price and while I can see arguments on spending on a quality rod and reel, I’ll tell ya I prefer my $65 Pflueger President spinning reel, but I wouldn’t have paid that much if I had used the $12 one I got on Ali Express first. You’ll be replacing line, lures and hooks somewhat often when you start anyway so no reason to break the bank.
In the winter months, I do more model building and painting indoors. Gunpla don’t have to be expensive and you can go all out on learning new techniques to erase mold lines and seamlessly join parts and that kinda technique learning keeps me engaged. Plus, when you’re done, you have something you can put on display. I also give completed kits away to younger relatives when I get tired of it or I wanna try the kit again with new techniques.
As far as fitness, it’s not quite a hobby, but I hop on a stationary bike and watch star trek. I fucking love Star Trek!
You can wear a mask. I bring one with me on public transit or other places I expect a lot of people in close proximity.
Ah Paradox is finding their model of releasing unfinished games and getting around to solving it later less appealing!
That is a little disappointing, actually, as Paradox made some damn good games this way. Crusader Kings 2, Hearts of Iron 4 and Stellaris were all made like that.
It depends on the context of the ban.
I’m okay with ostracizing shitty people and I don’t think there needs to be empirical law defining what makes someone shitty.
Facebook and it’s ilk are the reason I moved away from other forms of social media and internet community.
Working with them in any form seems like a great way to poison the waters if the fediverse.
There should be zero collaboration.
AI job matching… what a stupid hellscape we are building for ourselves to be crushed under
Doesn’t quite seem sporting, but I’m guessing they’re invasive and this is a cull.
I’ve gotten a few of these, but I just moved so it only included Google maps images of my old apartment, and I guess the data scrape didn’t get my phone number, so it included language like “I bet you wouldn’t like it if I called you at 0000000000, would you?”
I’m savvy enough to laugh and delete, but I’m sure this would be very effective against some older Americans.
I feel like people got worse on the road after the pandemic. Dunno why, just a feeling I got.
Humans are largely good to one another face to face, our most evil things happen when we create systems that allow us to remove the humanity from one another. We also have a tendency to allow only sociopaths and psychopaths to lead us, and we gotta nip that in the bud, but most people who aren’t like that don’t want to lead.
With their actions in Lebanon? Ugh, you might be right…
“May you live in interesting times”, eh?
Thank goodness the program told me I have value after Tyler stopped replying once I showed him my asshole.
That marks the start of World War 3 tho
And what’s that?
I don’t think social media works well for these kinda things, but you could pick an activity you think she and her kid would enjoy and invite her out. Something casual like a museum or park. Take the temperature there and see how things feel.
My adage with dating is to err on the side of gaining a new friend as your goal. Then the worst outcome is you get a new friend.
