I’d kind of see that as a bonus. Some time to bond while on a nice vacation on someone else’s dime would be cool especially if it meant not having to deal with the ex and the new guy as much. Definitely don’t go if you’re not going to be civil with the ex and him though (which would be understandable given the circumstances). Ruining the trip for everyone else won’t gain anything other than possibly resentment from the kid.

Long ago I worked at Wal-mart’s tire center while going to college and to get as many hours as I could they let me work with the overnight people after we closed at 7. In theory. The problem was the overnight managers never got told about this so I would just hang out doing nothing for 3 hours every night and getting paid. This went on for 3 months until I got a better job and no one ever questioned me about it.

Agreed. They switched us to teams for our softphone and the caller ID doesn’t even show me the number that called half the time. I just get a generic location which is worthless to me.

Last time I spent like 4 hours just to swap a graphics card. Granted 3.5 of those hours was me accidentally snapping off the shitty plastic spring things that were holding the heat sink that was right next to the graphics card on and then having to dig through all my spare screws and parts and shit to fashion a replacement means of holding that heat sink back on and then removing the motherboard to actually install them and reinstalling that. That was a fun sunday evening, and then I learned that the graphics card wasn’t even causing the issue I was trying to solve…

The fact that you used to sleep with someone doesn’t always mean you’re just waiting for an opportunity to jump on them again.

One of our family friends owned a property I used to go camping on when I was a kid. There was a heavily wooded area with a creek running through it and there was a wide part of it that had a bend that went around a sandbar that was big enough to camp on. It was so quiet and peaceful there. Probably my favorite spot on the planet. I’ve found other places like that but they’ve been in public campgrounds and having tons of people around ruins the vibe.

It’s definitely a good thing. If someone wants to be on the popular platform go back to Reddit or Twitter. That’s what most people want. The Fediverse is the minority that wants something different.

Probably my earliest memory of interacting with someone outside my family was when I was in an Easter egg hunt and being a little kid somehow managed to drop all my eggs. Another kid stopped what he was doing to help me pick them up. I don’t know why but that stuck in my head and I think it’s influenced how I’ve treated people throughout my life.

I’m older than you but otherwise the same. Seems like everything is going in the wrong direction thanks to corpos trying to wring as much money as possible out of it rather than making it as useful to people as possible.
