Thanks! :)
I’m the developer of a desktop-first Lemmy client called Alexandrite.
Thanks! :)
(dev here) I had an idea for how I’d build a profile switcher recently, it’s something I want to implement soon.
(I’m the dev of Alexandrite) Officially there isn’t yet a way to self-host it without modifying the code (unless you host it on one of a few specific cloud providers like the official Alexandrite site does), but now that people are self hosting anyway I think adding support for it is going to be higher up on my priority list!
I never had considered before a few days ago that someone would host Alexandrite alongside their instance so it never occurred to me that someone might first interact with Lemmy through Alexandrite. I will definitely add registration!
Ohhhh, I see where the confusion comes from. In the sidebar when viewing a community I have it show both the community and your instance’s sidebar text stacked in a column, I need to probably make them more visually distinct or it’s not as obvious to people who didn’t make the site that it’s both lol. I’ll add something to my todo list to make that more clear.
Hey, just added this, you should see it in the sidebar now where you mentioned.
By the way, this is the support community for the lemmy.world instance, not for various third party apps. I just happened to see this by accident. The best place to get in contact with me is either to submit an issue on Github or post in !alexandrite@lemmy.world
Alexandrite has a typo in the name! (I’m the creator btw)
I am still around, but I’ve always been a lurker. Just saw the notification so I’m a couple days late. I do see mentions!
