Some IT people work on helpdesk, or write documentation, or code, and sit for 8 hours a day. Some others build or support systems; or install cabling or servers in the data centre. There are multiple situations; IT is a wide and varied field.

When my relatives went to China, I did a factory reset on an old phone and installed only WeChat on it, used that to communicate. It was only for a few months, worked for me, might work for you?
