Now off… $fscking myself.
Let me know what you think about https://gohug.eu/
Too new on lemm.ee to upload an avatar :)

Haha. Replied to the wrong comment earlier: Expect a Hotfix Update pretty soon. Message from the Devs an hour ago:
“UPDATE: We have tested the fix on our end and we will put out a hotfix release ASAP.”
Ideally it would not break, but great effort by the team and I can live with the issues from time to time. Overall a much better experience than the YT website

Ok… a library broke because of player decryption changes. Hopefully fix & update available soon: https://github.com/FreeTubeApp/FreeTube/issues/6912#issuecomment-2749088582
Sadly that cat & mouse game is not uncommon :(
I get the same error sometimes too. Most of the time it works by going back and re-opening the link again, or a few reloads. Maybe 1 out of 5 videos that have problems will not resolve and I just avoid them or retry at a later time.
Have not yet cared enough to dig deeper. Will let you know if I ever stumble upon a good explanation / solution.
What are the main issues with revolt? Have not tried it yet. Looked promising at a first glance. All just empty marketing?
Got it. Both solid recommendations.
The first link rebranded to https://www.goeuropean.org/
Haha. Mind sharing your list? Maybe some gems I could add?

Mostly subscribed to GitHub repo release feeds. To know which software has updates.
Also some blogs from companies I am interested in.
I tried Cryptpad and Nextcloud Office Suite and the latter is what I went with.
Two main reasons:
Nextcloud does offer different office integrations. I use their Office bundle which can run a bundled small Collabora server (no separate setup needed, one-click install). For my personal self-hosted environment perfect. Would recommend a dedicated collabora instance in business environments.
Collabora itself is based on Libreoffice and their online UX is just amazing. Such a good use of screen real estate. Great product really. As I had Nextcloud already running it was an easy decision.
I recommend FreeTube on desktop or NewPipe on Android. Tubular = NewPipe with SponsoBlock and Disklike button, but sadly does not get updated that often.
All a bit more work with keeping subscriptions in sync manually, but so much better experience than YouTube native.
In the digital realm: Reddit and G-Suite were the big ones. Just completed migration of my private accounts. Both 16+ years). Lemmy, Proton + Nextcloud for now. Have not switched my business over yet, but it will be a quick process once I fully commit.
If for any reason Gmail gets blocked in the future there will be many people surprised by not only losing their email, but also access to their external online services (if they need the email address in any way to sign in). Of course also to any data they keep in the Google ecosystem.
Can the UK join again? A speedy re-integration would be awesome.
You are right. I think I read that wrong. I thought automatic segment skipping like YouTube SponsorBlock. You definitely can fast forward using buttons.
[…] Battery life: I’m really excited that battery life will be increased from 7 days to 1 month! This is due to massive improvements in Bluetooth chip power efficiency over the last 10 years. […]

Don’t love the closed-in ecosystem but Garmin watches with MIP display do almost all you just said.
Podcast ad skipping sadly not a thing.
Price might be an issue though. The top end models with all the whistles come at a smartphone flagship price point.
After re-reading the fine-print I hereby fully commit my soul to the spirit of lemmy.
How dare you make us click a link and read for ourselves? Not what I signed up for.
Safety razor with Feather blades at home, disposable BIC or similar with 2 to 3 micro-blade rows when travelling without checking luggage by plane. Try to re-use the disposable ones as much as possible.
Have not tried many different safety razor blade manufacturers. Merkur, Derby are non-US as well I think.
Shaving creams and lotions are a whole other rabbit hole. At peak obsession I loved using Musgo Real from Portugal. Then switched to Proraso from Italy to have shaving cream accessory costs.
There are good European retailers that carry good options (e.g. nassrasur.de, tonsus.com )
