it’s been awhile since i dove into Linux, but last time i dabbled i was liking Kubuntu.

i don’t think we should act like journalism was in a great place before.

FB capitalized on a weakened industry, but it was the industry itself that was responsible for that state.

they really fucked themselves by not transitioning to the new market, instead insisting that it was the customers that were wrong. all these years later, i’ve yet to see a news outlet that would be worth the subscription fee. they’re mostly recycling content from other, free sites anyway.

once the older crowd passes, traditional news outlets are done for. the ones that remain will be the ones that were providing the content all along.

everyone knows, there’s a certain amount of fucking around you get for free. the real problem is that the finding out part can happen quick, and seem to come out of nowhere.

phones and tablets are fine for consuming media. they are noticeably worse at creating it.

i couldn’t imagine typing out long responses, sometimes with links, with a phone or tablet.

as for how many consumers still use PCs, hard to say. i know i don’t go a single day without using mine. whether it’s to play a game, type up a guide for someone to do something, or whatever else. on the flip of that, i also own a ultrabook that i use when i’m away from home. it’s capable of doing many things, but it’s no where near as capable as my desktop setup.

let’s be real here.

none of us are happy with the outcome.

pretty much ALL of us would have settled for $2.4 million.

My dad has been using my old 6S until recently. We bumped him up to a 8 I recently quit using.

Currently I’m using an 11 Pro. Great phone.

that’s because you are the product.

basically it became it’s own sub-culture instead of just being a situational label.

they’re just insufferable. the problem isn’t the situation. it’s the mindset they develop.

it basically becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy for them. they can’t get a woman, they develop unhealthy views, related to self-entitlement, and they become walking red flags to normal, adjusted individuals, which drives their isolation, and then feeds into what they think always happens.

a defeatist attitude never gets anything done. being a person is, in part, about self improvement.

if your skills won’t get you hired for a job, you need to improve your skills. dating and having successful relationships is not much different. the problem with many incels is that they improve all these other aspects of their life (job, property, car), and then can’t understand why the other sex doesn’t flock to them. they fail to realize that hitting all these various metrics is just a part of the equation, but not the whole she-bang.

if you haven’t had a relationship, maybe you haven’t had the right circumstances, or met the right person. the trick is to understand not to necessarily take that personally, as recursive as that sounds.

it’s whataboutism, any time someone follows up a story like this with ‘what about the time X did worse?’

it’s literally the definition of whataboutism. if it weren’t whataboutism, then we wouldn’t be talking about the IDF. we’d instead be talking about the dude pretending to be a journalist by day, and a terrorist by night.

the fact that you don’t know this means two things. either you know and are trying to deflect, or you just flat out don’t know that’s what whataboutism is.

this is the way. i had to break it to my friend recently, these scam callers don’t have a DO NOT CALL list. they just have a list where they call you more.

i got my cell number decades ago. for many years i would get calls for a Sabrina. i explained to them many times over the years, i don’t know anyone by that name and i’m not interested. every time, they’d wait about 6 months and the calls would start up again. about a year or two ago i was in the shop working, and got a call. i decided after that moment that i was Sabrina and i was interested in whatever it was they were selling.

a few days later, i got a call, told them i was Sabrina, was down for whatever services they had. i managed to get the person to give me the address they had listed, under the guise of confirming it. before the end of the week i had 3 different roofing contractors scheduled, all to show up at the same time, same day.

my only regret was that i couldn’t be there to watch the drama unfold. when they called back later i told them i had no idea what they were talking about.

in the year and a half since that incident, i have received no more calls for Sabrina.

moral of the story, sometime the best answer isn’t the honest one.

i’m all for the government breaking up corps, or stopping mergers, but this one needed to happen. however much it cost to get Bobby Kotick gone, is a net positive.

besides, we’re talking about spending Microsoft’s money. they fucking got it. so what’s the fuss?

if the deal had been blocked, how would that have been better for the industry? also, probably the more important question, how would that have been better for the consumer?

a friend of mine and myself were wrestling a bit in the front yard. i was probably in my early 20’s. my thumb got caught in the collar of his t-shirt. we flipped around a bit and my thumb partially dislocated. i felt it start to pivot out of socket, and called for a stop. my friend immediately stopped and i was fine. it still aches to this day when i exert it. part of the issue is it’s on my left hand and i use that thumb while doing things like playing guitar.

it’s dumb but nothing else makes that joint really ache like that.

of all the ways i’ve been hurt over the years, it’s stupid that that’s the injury that gives me semi-on-going pain.

the word there is ‘morale’.

i’m 40 years old, and i’ve been working since i was 17.

i have never had any sort of job that paid any sort of benefits. i simply get paid the money i earn from the jobs i do, and that’s it. i’ve never had any sort of insurance, etc. it’s kind of ridiculous. most of my jobs are contract positions. i can’t even remember the last time i worked for any sort of hourly wage.

either delete the data, or move it.

those are really your only options. if the drive you’re talking about is the only one in your PC, it needs some free space to do it’s thing. mechanical hard drives are pretty cheap and abundant. check with whatever is local to you, about used ones if you need something on the cheap. even new ones in the 1TB range are pretty cheap though.
