A really common issue with sway is that it doesn’t run as a login shell, so none of your .profile or other environment settings get sourced when you login. I think that might be the problem here.
Try closing your sway session, then login to a tty and run sway. If the qt themes work properly then it’s definitely an environment issue.
Fellow Arch user here (btw). It’s exactly the same as building AUR packages. Clone a git repo containing a PKGBUILD, use makepkg to build it, and pacman to install it. The nice thing is you can host a repo of your built packages and install them on other systems really easily. The big downside is that dependency management is not automated, so it will take some time and annoyance to map out what packages you need to build and in what order, if you want a fully source-bootstrapped system.
I think this is a good enough reason to actually put in some effort to phase out ipv4 and dhcp. There shouldn’t be a way for some random node on the network to tell my node what device to route traffic over. Stateless ipv6 for the win.

I tend to think about it as density. Smaller chunks can be more tightly packed together, and are therfore more dense. As long as there is a way for the stuff to flow (i.e. shaking the bag), gravity will pull denser stuff to the bottom.
There’s openSUSE tumbleweed. It’s rpm based like fedora and it’s rolling-release like arch. I don’t know what the 3rd party/nonfree software situation is like. Maybe someone else can chime in on that front.
I will add, as an arch user, I think you could easily tweak your current system to be less annoying with the updates, but I realize that’s not the question you’re asking so feel free to disregard that.
We probably could, but I think it would be a lot of effort for a relatively small gain. If you’re concerned about saturated fat intake, the most effective thing to do would be to cut back on meat and dairy products, since those are much more potent sources.
I’m no dietician, but I can’t imagine cooking oil makes up a significant portion of saturated fat intake for most people, when you consider the popularity of dairy in all its forms in western cuisine.

And even if you know that’s probably the case, sometimes your brain will just discard information that isn’t consistent with its assumed reality, and it tells you the piece of code you just read is fine when it’s obviously not.

HOWEVER, the fact that we just witnessed the fucking letter to america go viral on tiktok, wherein a soul crushing amount of people publicly stated they agree with a fucking jihadist manifesto, is cause for a massive amount of concern. Tiktok definitely needs to face consequences for letting that happen. We also can’t excuse the audience for that type of behaviour. Whether it came from a deliberate propaganda campaign, or a sketchy algorithm, or just mass stupidity, audience members need to be better. If you read the letter to america and you think bin laden was right, you’re a moron, and you’re contributing to the problem.
The way I think it works is that your local instance hosts its own communities, and then it will reach out to other instances to grab content from every external community that at least one local user has subscribed to. “All” mode is limited to that set of content.
So I think the only way to see the entire set of all content on lemmy would be to meticulously subscribe to every single community on every single instance.
And someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I think you can still subscribe to subs on defederated instances, it’s just the interactions that don’t get passed back and forth.
