Are ObviousPlant items actually planted in stores or are they merely pictures meant to convey that idea?

I’m curious if it would ever actually be possible to encounter one of his joke items in the wild, or if they merely only exist in photos.

And if they are real plants: Could I just… Take it? Would it be like finding painted rocks or would that be akin to the dude who ate the banana art?

I always figured he would plant one in a real store, take a picture, and then the rest were for people to actually buy.
