They are being murdered because of where they live, not technically because of their ethnicity. If they all left of their own accord, Israel would not pursue them to murder them. By what rationale do you group people who live in Palestine together as a particular group- because they aren’t. Israel wants Gaza, and they want everyone there who’s not an Israeli gone. Either chased out or murdered. It’s not like the extermination of certain Native peoples carried out by the US government in the 1800’s where they were obliterated for what they were.
The United states holocaust museum has a pretty good ‘plain text’ definition of genocide, which perfectly captures what the Israelis are trying to do to the Palestinians as genocide.
