if the characters behave too unnatural

    My wife doesn’t get this.

I can’t stand watching some movies because every part of the movie is just one character doing something unnatural or outright insane that nobody would ever do, and the people around them react in similarly unnatural and insane ways.

And certain old movies (especially holiday oriented ones) that lean heavily into the “everyone here is a bumbling idiot” trope crank this up to 11.

If you enjoy said things, awesome. Good for you. Keep watching them, it literally does not affect me. I’m genuinely glad you have entertainment. I just won’t watch it with you.

Yeah, this is a big part of why I don’t want TV shows anymore. If I want something ridiculous, I’ll just play video games, which I expect to be ridiculous and unrelatable. Some movies are worthwhile though, and they tend to be better IMO than most TV shows (I really liked the new The Best Christmas Pageant Ever).

You must hate Monty Python’s works and similar comedies.

I also wonder if your judgements of what is unnatural and impossible are accurate. I get the feeling you’d judge a lot of real life experiences as unnatural and impossible.
