deo@lemmy.dbzer0.comto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Partner has ADD, do I have misophonia?2·2 months agomy boyfriend and my mom both have that. makes for some fun dinners, since my dad is a super loud eater (tbh, even i get annoyed by my dad eating, lol). luckily, my mom trained me up in the ways of polite eating from like day one, so no friction on my behalf!
One time when I was a little kid, my sister and i saw a huge spider crawling along on the floor very slowly. We screamed, and our dad came in and stepped on it. Thousands of billions of little baby spiders came pouring out. It was horrifying. And that’s (one of the many) reasons why I don’t kill spiders. If necessary, I will relocate them outside by trapping them with an upside down cup and sliding a coaster underneath to ensure secure transport (unless they jump, then I make my partner do it, lol).

The worst is when you get it back and instead of being totally snapped off, it’s just bent up to a 90⁰ angle, and then you have to snap it off yourself because you can never get it to lie flat again after that. That’s why I would always keep a spare with the clip already fucked up in my bag when someone inevitably asked to borrow a pencil.

It does sound kinda crazy, but you will use it for like 1/3 of every day. I can see a similar argument being appropriate as for buying high quality shoes.

deo@lemmy.dbzer0.comto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Does the US really have no instruments in case a newly elected president immediatelly and openly exposes he's a nazi?2·5 months agoIf they hadn’t capped the number of representatives at 435 over a hundred years ago, we wouldn’t be in the situation where a vote from Wyoming carries 3.7 times more weight than a vote from California. By my math, if the 435 cap was abolished, we would have 143 more electors generally sprinkled among the more populous states. I still agree that the EC is outdated, but it’s not even operating the way it was designed.

I'm frequently having to double/triple swipe for a single action (as a new Android user).English1·8 months agoAre you using a different type of screen protector than you were used to on your old phone? Tempered glass screen protectors in particular can reduce touch sensitivity since they tend to be thicker.
Doesn’t have your address on it though.
deo@lemmy.dbzer0.comto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do I... Do court? I didn't realize my license was expired and got pulled over. Now I have court tomorrow.2·9 months agoDid you try calling the clerk’s office? They might have an automated message with info about closures due to the hurricane. And generally if they open to the public at 9, the clerks and other staff will be there earlier, so you can try calling at like 8 or something. When I had jury duty, we were told to show up a full two hours before the court actually “opened” so they could do orientation stuff with us.
yeah, mycotoxins (ie: toxic byproducts from fungi/mold decomposing your food stuffs) don’t always get broken down during cooking. So, while cooking according to standard food safety specs may have killed the mold, their shit is still everywhere ready to fuck your shit up.
Not to mention that you have to survive an infection before it matters that you immune system learned to detect the infectious agent. Yes, the first inoculation techniques were literally just minor exposure to the infectious agent (eg: grinding smallpox scabs and blowing the resulting powder up the nose – wtf). While it technically worked, the mortality rate was still pretty damn high, just not quite as high as ya know getting smallpox the normal way, and thus really only used when a serious outbreak was occuring. We’ve gotten so much better at making vaccination safer and more effective, because we now know so much more about what is actually occuring biologically and know to use attenuated virus or just the benign protein coat alone to achieve results. Why would you ever want to go back to scab-snorting (or toilet licking, apparently, lol)?

Honestly, the plot points themselves were fine it’s the execution that made it terrible. The pacing was off, character interactions and motivations made no sense, yes. But the broad-brush strokes of the plot could have been done well.
deo@lemmy.dbzer0.comto Games@lemmy.world•Last Epoch Patch 1.1 - Harbingers of Ruin | Official TrailerEnglish1·1 year agodeck game-specific settings:
- Compatibility: proton experimental
- refresh rate 40hz
- allow tearing
- half-rate shading off
in-game settings:
- master quality: very low
- fullscreen
- 40fps limit
For some graphically-intensive builds or that one map in the swampy area that i cannot for the life of me maintain 40fps, i turn the resolution down in-game (but still fullscreen) and use the deck’s FSR at max sharpness, though this does make text a little hard to read, so i try to avoid it. I can generally get away with tdp limit of 10-12W too.

platformers very often include coyote-time to make jumps feel better and to account for imprecise reaction times of players, but that would be cool to see it as a legit mechanic
yes
