My wife and I were once at a day long event a few hours north and it snowed pretty heavy. Didn’t even think about the car until we walked up to see the tires almost completely covered. It was late and the whole town pretty much shut down, so all I had to use was a window scraper.
Definitely keep a shovel in the car.
I’ve never thought about it but I keep my phone in my left pocket. It stays on dnd most of the time and I hardly use it especially when I’m out. The right pocket it for the stuff I’m likely to pull out and use.
I’m much better off financially than my mom ever was, and my grandma even though she did pretty good when she was working was on disability for the last 20 years of her life fighting renal failure and after paying her bills had a couple pennies to rub together each month.
My grandma couldn’t do much the last few years and didn’t really need money, so I put quite a bit into fixing up her house and making her home dialysis situation as comfortable as I could. New floors, fancy chair, big TV, I even redid her whole lasndscaping outside even though she never really got to enjoy it, she felt better knowing it looked nice.
My mom on the other hand gets about $300-400 on a normal from me for random things for her and my sister, going out to eat, clothes, nails, extra food. Which is essentially the only thing that let’s them live a live outside of total poverty. They live in the projects but they can buy things when they want or don’t have to worry about how they’re gonna get their next meal.
My whole life plan revolves around getting enough land to put a second modest home on for my mom. I’m almost there, which if that wasn’t the case I can say with certainty she’d die in those projects and not from old age.
I’ve never really thought about not taking care of my elders. I guess my situation is one of those exceptions.
Is this the case? I don’t feel like I’ve ever had to install Perl but I’ve had to install Python plenty of times and I use both pretty frequently on a daily basis. Not to mention a newer version, older version, 2.7.4 instead of 2.7.3.
Funny enough my wife is a wedding photographer, I shoot with her a few times a year and absolutely hate it. She can’t imagine doing anything else but if it wasn’t my wife you couldn’t pay me enough to do it more than once a year.
The second hand gear is the way to go though, she got some Sony camera a while back that cost like 2k new for around 900 because it had a small scratch on the body and one of the metal things that hold the thing on was loose. We ordered a new metal thingy and with a couple screws it was practically new.
Oh man I put so much time into my garden this year, planted so many vegetables, started a bunch indoors on a nice indoor greenhouse I set up with one of those rolling shelves. I was basically ready to feed my whole family from the garden…
So far I’ve got a whopping 3 bell peppers, 6 tomatoes and one tiny baby squash that’s starting to grow.
Granted we had a very hot summer that I wasn’t prepared for and even watering 3 times a day a lot of my stuff just burnt, plus the ravenous squirells that ate every seedling I put out.
But I’ll do it all again next year because it was a blast.
Exactly this. Woodworking, gardening, working out, macrame, knitting, eating, making spices, building robots.
For a while I felt bad about all the stuff I learned and didn’t keep up with but at a certain point I just accepted that most of the hobbies I pick up won’t last long and it’s been great since then.
Commenting to check back later.
I also do not have an answer but want to know.
I have used Flex launcher on a mini PC, it seemed like a good option but I got busy before I could even half set it up.
I put up a bird feeder and few months ago and now we constantly have at least 20 birds all around our yard. My son likes to throw bird seed all around now so its really cool to see them just walking around and pecking.
I absolutely fell in love with morning doves
Hope your pipe situation got resolved easily.
We had a pipe burst right at the entrance of our crawlspace a few weeks ago and it took a bit to realize. It was a nightmare and now we have to get some foundation work done.
I don’t know, it doesn’t seem far off.
The beach, I couldn’t give less of a bother about going to lay on some burning sand, occasionally dipping my toes in some freezing fish piss water, and getting pelted in the face with sand as a bunch of kids run by kicking up every speck of sand they touch while their parents are getting shitfaced and blasting music no one else wants to hear.
Put me in a secluded lake in the woods with some shade near by and I’m all in though. I guess more specifically my issue is with the people at the beach, but still.
I was always very skinny until recently. Financially I couldn’t afford to eat more than a meal a day at best, so skipping meals was kind of the point.
A few years ago my situation got better and without even realizing it I jumped from 115 to 145 in a matter of a few months just from eating 3 relatively healthy meals a day.
My problem now is I can’t stop eating all the time.
Yeah, I get the sentiment that you can’t avoid bugs and I think to an extent they are inevitable at a certain point. But something like this is just negligence.
My company isn’t medical or anything life threatening if something goes wrong, but a bug could cost someone a nice heap of money, in turn costing us a nice heap of money. So we have a rule to treat and test our software as if it were used in the medical industry. Although it seems like we should be aiming for a higher standard at this point.
You could always just boot up a windows VM and set up a shared folder to code on Linux/test on windows if your application has issues running on Linux.

I don’t see how this could be legal at all and how any of those terms could be applicable. My 2 year old found the remote today and he loves buttons, so naturally he pushed every button on there. I thought nothing of it but saw something pop up and then disappear, I assumed it was an error or something from the button mashing, but I guess my 2 year old agreed to rokus new TOS.
Cutting a piece of your baby’s junk off for no other reason then everyone does it is a really weird thing that I’ve never been able to wrap my head around.
I’m not religious but I at least can understand if it’s for religious reason, there’s a point to it, even if I don’t agree with/understand the point. But people seem to just do it for no reason aside from it’s what people do. It’s forced genital mutilation anyway you look at it.
Huh I wonder how many Fair Trade items I bought thinking they were Fairtrade. Thanks.
