    This doesn’t make alot of sense to me. Doubt all that was created by Lemmy users that logged in to reddit-that’s simply Reddit users? Can’t be good for Reddit that this is going on such a large scale. And if nothing else … Great amusement lol

      It only takes a few dedicated people with bots, but it does probably benefit their metrics.

        Trying to convert those metrics into revenue is what started this whole thing in the first place. If they were so effective at turning any engagement to their advantage, we’d still all be engaging there via whatever third party app we were using before they got disabled.

          Have you tried to actually go to r/place? You can’t even view the page on your phone unless you’re using their garbage official app. It’s definitely meant to try and increase app engagement
